Mini FOS

 

ABOUT:
Last year's Mini Festival of Soccer (FOS) had 248 teams, 2,500 players, an average of 7,500 spectators, and an estimated 372 games played throughout the weekend at the Saskatoon Sports Centre and each player received a gold medal! We look forward to seeing many new and returning faces at our festival this year! A huge thanks goes out to Xtratime Sports Soccer Locker, Xsight Photography and Cinemas, Co-op Saskatoon, and Dulux Paints for sponsoring this event last year! SYSI is actively seeking sponsors for 2025! 

 

Deadline: Teams must notify their Community Coordinator or Zone Registrar on or before Mon May 12 if they wish to participate in the festival. Community Coordinators and Zone Registrars will have until this deadline to submit their list of teams who wish to be included in the Mini FOS schedule (including community or zone, team names, age group, and gender). After the deadline, additional teams may be placed on a wait list and if a team withdraws a team from the wait list may be contacted.

Team Eligibility: Only teams which currently participate in the SYSI Community U5/U7/U9 and Zone U7/U9D leagues will be accepted.

MINI FOS WEATHER HOTLINE (306) 975-3414

WEBSITE / PHONE: Any cancellations of games or field changes will be posted on the SYSI website on the Mini FOS webpage and on the weather line (306) 975-3414 throughout the weekend but in most cases coaches are to use their best judgment.

RAIN: If it is raining the two team's coaches will use their judgment as to whether or not they wish to play the game. Teams can agree to not play a game or agree upon a suitable reschedule time later in the week on an available city grass field.

LIGHTNING/THUNDER: If there is lightning spotted or thunder heard teams are to leave the field and seek shelter immediately and wait out the weather (there needs to be 30 minutes of no further occurrences of lightning) or choose to go home.  For more information please see the CSA Lightning Safety and Severe Weather Policy.

FIELD CONDITIONS: If there is standing water on outdoor West Field or Kinsmen teams may try to adjust the cones and flags to an area suitable to play as long as it isn’t too close to another field; if not possible teams are to cancel the game and reschedule later in the week on an available city grass field if desired.

AIR QUALITY: If air quality reaches AQHI of 7 or greater, games for that time shall be cancelled.

EXTREME HEAT: If temperature reaches a humidex of 35 degrees, teams shall take additional cooling and water breaks and are encouraged to shorten the game time. If temperature reaches a humidex of 40 degrees Celsius games shall be cancelled.

INDOOR POWER OUTAGE: If there is an indoor power outage teams are to proceed in a calm manner out of the facility as soon as possible and await further instructions from facility or tournament staff, the website, and/or weather phone line. Games affected by a power outage will be canceled (see next point regarding rescheduling).

RESCHEDULING: Games cancelled or unplayable due to weather or indoor power outage will not be rescheduled by SYSI and there will not be a refund as SYSI still has to cover festival costs such as fields, coordinators, and medals regardless of weather.  If you wish to contact the other team and reschedule at a later time in the week and do not have their contact information please refer to the TEAM CONTACT LIST or contact festival headquarters (306) 975-3413 and we will provide you with the contact information. Teams can still pick up their medals until Sun Jun 9 at 3:30 PM in festival headquarters.
