ABOUT the Program: Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc. is proud to announce our 13th summer of the O’Reilly Insurance and The Co-operators Kids In the Park summer soccer program, which will run weekly from Mon July 13th to Thurs August 20th, 2020 and will take place at six neighborhood parks in Saskatoon Monday to Thursday, for one hour each morning and one hour each afternoon, and will be FREE of charge. The program was developed to create soccer programming during the summer months free of charge in parks close to home for boys and girls of all ages. This program is intended to keep kids active and increase the enjoyment and participation of soccer by reducing financial & transportation barriers and providing positive mature role models. This program also aims to increase the soccer "hype" during the summer leading into the indoor season for current and potential future soccer players. Each participant will also receive a FREE soccer ball, compliments of Tim Hortons. Each child will receive a participant certificate throughout at the completion of their week program. The program is coordinated by certified soccer coaches with the ambition to make soccer fun and enjoyable in the designated neighborhood parks!
COVID-19 Adaptations: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the program has been designed differently with safety being our number one priority for our participants, parents, coaches, and community including the following adaptations: preregistration including waiver forms will be required; weekly programs limited to 14 children with the same group of children and coaches together each day within each week set program; each week program consist of four consecutive days each with a one hour session either in the morning or afternoon; those with a child between 5 to 8 years of age will require a parent/guardian/sibling actively participating on-field with child to ensure social distancing occurs; soccer activities will be zero contact with participants keeping within their designated space; participants may not take part in more than one of the 12 available week set programs throughout the summer in order to maximize the number of children who may take part in the program.
